Ring and Ride Charity Minibus Service - 10th February 2009

A ring-and-ride minibus service has received £1,000 from the Heart of England Co-operative Society.

The charity based in Coventry provides a door-to-door service for people with limited mobility who find it difficult to use normal public transport. The money will be used to fund extra trips for people in the local area. Ring and ride is one of six charities chosen by the society to receive a share of £10,000 from their Helping Hearts Awards scheme. The others are the NSPCC, Guide Dogs for the Blind, St John Ambulance, Salvation Army and Warwickshire Wildlife Trust.

A spokesman for the Heart of England Co-operative Society, said: "Ring-and-ride is a service that gives older members of the local community a much-needed lifeline and a greater level of freedom, so we are delighted to support them with a donation.
